Mastering the Hand You Were Dealt

A client emailed me just before her Soul Purpose Vedic Astrology reading, to ask if she could change her future or was “locked in,” as she put it.

Here is what I emailed back:

"The simple answer to your astrology question of 'Can I change the future? Are we locked in?' is, YES ... we can change the future! No, we are not locked in.”

The birth chart depicts our tendencies, probabilities and potentials based on accumulated karma. (Karma is just the result of the actions we take.)

We are not locked in by our past karma UNLESS we don't grow/evolve, which is our soul purpose of being on Earth and learning our life lessons through the "Universe-ity" of life.

Now of course, we can choose NOT to evolve, and remain locked into what we came in with (our past karma).

Here is a good analogy:

Let’s say you are dealt a not-so-great hand in a poker card game. But with some skill; with being awake and aware, and utilizing some patience and cleverness; and with willingness to take a chance, to be vulnerable and sometimes uncomfortable, to be open to learning; you can do OK with the not-so-great poker hand that you were dealt.

OR, let’s say you are dealt a decent hand, but you are sleepy and not so focused. Perhaps you are distracted. Maybe you text or talk too much. Maybe you drink too much during the game, which of course makes you not so strategic, and oops... You make a blunder and suffer for that move.

Maybe you learn your lesson on the next hand, and pull it together, and the game feels much easier. OR, maybe you continue to be unconscious and unaware, and keep losing the poker game until you‘ve lost all your money. THEN you finally decide to change and pay attention and play the game with awareness and skill, and THEN you master the hand you were dealt!

Maybe you are dealt a poor hand and it is just too hard. You give up and indulge in anything that feels good, just to get by.

Maybe you are dealt an OK hand, but there are a couple of “bad" cards that drag you down, so you give up and focus on how hard things are.

Maybe you are dealt an average hand, but you focus and learn to play those couple of strong cards well, and pull it off.

Maybe you are dealt a FANTASTIC hand, and you win the poker game of life with grace and ease. You share your wealth and wisdom, and teach your strategies to others. You lift the vibration of the universe.

Maybe you are not dealt such a fantastic hand, but you still win the poker game of life by overcoming your obstacles and challenges, your difficult hand. You share your wealth and experience and wisdom, and even teach your strategies to others, lifting the vibration of this planet.

The "hand" you are dealt is determined by your previous karma. (Remember, karma is the actions we take.) So when you change the action... You create new karma. And karma starts in the mind, as a thought!
